History
"The more you know about the past, the better prepared you are for the future." – Theodore Roosevelt
At Rose Hill, the History curriculum aims to inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past and gain knowledge and understanding of British History and that of the wider world. Pupils will learn about the lives and legacies of people who shaped the world will live in, from Marple to the Maya.
Our curriculum has been carefully planned to link with other subjects such as Geography and Science to build a greater understanding of human development across time. We have personalised our curriculum to ensure it is relevant to the lives and experiences of our pupils.
A rich historical vocabulary will underpin lessons and our staff will equip pupils with the skills they need to ask perceptive questions, think critically and develop perspective and judgement about the events of the past.
The children will develop a clear chronology and narrative of British, local and world history, noting connections, contrasts and trends across the periods they study. Gaining a broad and diverse knowledge of History will help pupils develop a clear perspective of the wider world and empathy with people of all backgrounds.
